12PM - 5PM

Jasper P Driver Plaza, 61st & Adeline St, Oakland

“Everyday is Black History Month” was the message behind the Self Help Hunger Program’s community gathering at the Jasper P Driver Plaza in North Oakland. Vendors providing free food, community groups, social activists and neighbors gathered together, while live performances by Eseibio the Automatic and bands gave the sunny day an extra dose of joy and solidarity to celebrate Black culture beyond the month of February.

What have you experienced about the displacement of the Black community?

Where are your ancestors and family elders from?

How did you come to live in Oakland?

What is your understanding and opinion of reparations to the Black community?
